Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 1, 2026

ChatHarbor ("the App") is developed by David Edgar. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. The short version: ChatHarbor does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data.

Information We Do Not Collect

ChatHarbor is a native macOS application that displays web-based messaging services inside embedded browser views. The App itself does not collect, track, or store any personal information, including but not limited to:

How the App Works

ChatHarbor loads third-party messaging services (such as Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, and others) using macOS WebKit web views. When you use these services through ChatHarbor, you are interacting directly with those services' own websites. Any data you provide to those services is governed by their respective privacy policies, not this one.

Local Data Storage

The App stores your preferences (such as which services you have added, your theme selection, notification settings, and appearance mode) locally on your Mac using macOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to anyone other than you.

Web content loaded by each service (cookies, local storage, cached data) is stored locally on your Mac by the WebKit framework, just as it would be in Safari or any other browser. ChatHarbor does not access, read, or transmit this data.

Third-Party Services

The messaging services you access through ChatHarbor are operated by third parties. Each service has its own privacy policy and data practices. ChatHarbor has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any service you use.

Workspace Guard & Clipboard

If you enable the Workspace Guard feature, ChatHarbor may clear your macOS clipboard when you switch between personal and workspace services. This action is performed entirely on your local device. The contents of your clipboard are not read, logged, or transmitted — they are simply cleared.

Notifications

ChatHarbor may deliver local notifications on your Mac when a messaging service reports new activity. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device using Apple's notification system. No notification data is sent to any external server.

Children's Privacy

ChatHarbor is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, there is no data to identify or address.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
